Marie Preaud, born in France, is recognized by the industry for her inspired and ground-breaking work photographing children. She has earned several awards including the ASMP-NY IMAGE 04. Preaud studied photography in Paris at Speos School of Photography and at the International School of Photography in New York City where she started her career assisting master photographers like Horst Hamann. She then was hired as a staff photographer for "Childbirth Magazine" in New York City. Galleries such as Speos Gallery in Paris, the light Gallery in New York, University of Southern Maine, Zero Station and Gallery Kasten in Germany have showcased her work. One of Preaud’s projects was an educational documentary project called “African/Souls" (University of Southern Maine). Inspired in part by Fazal Sheikh's book "A Sense of Common Ground", the aim of the project was to bring to awareness the presence of recent African immigrants in Maine by portraying them in photos of their daily lives. Currently Preaud is working on a project on intercultural families as well as her newly completed book of Halloween portraits.
